Frequently Asked Questions

What type of projects do you take on?

From cozy one-room refreshes to full-scale home or business renovations, we handle a wide range of residential and commercial projects. Chloe also brings years of multi-family residential, corporate, and airport hospitality design experience to the table—so whether it’s a family living room or a high-traffic space, she knows how to design environments that balance beauty, function, and durability. No project is “too small” if it makes your space feel more like you.

What’s NCIDQ certification?

Great question—and one we’re proud to answer.

NCIDQ stands for National Council for Interior Design Qualification. It’s a rigorous, three-part exam that tests a designer’s knowledge of public health, safety, and welfare. Basically, it separates the pros from the Pinterest boards.

Holding this certification means we’re not just about making things look good—we’re trained to design spaces that function beautifully and meet the highest safety standards.

Why choose a Certified Interior Designer?

Certification isn’t just a fancy title—it reflects formal education, professional training, and tested expertise. Chloe’s background means she’s more than a decorator with a good eye; she understands building codes, ADA requirements, and the technical side of design, ensuring your project is both stunning and sound. It’s the difference between simply filling a room with pretty things and creating a space that’s thoughtfully planned, safe, and built to last.

What’s the difference between a commercial and residential Interior Designer?

Commercial design is all about creating functional, code-compliant spaces for customers and employees. Residential design focuses on crafting comfortable, personalized spaces at home. Both aim to make environments look and feel their best—just for different needs. At Chloe Elizabeth Interiors, we offer BOTH!

How long does a project usually take?

It depends on the scope—refreshing a single room might take a few weeks, while a full-scale renovation could span several months. From the get-go, we’ll set clear expectations and keep you updated so there are no surprises (well, except the fun design ones).

What’s your rate?

Ah, the million-dollar question (don’t worry—it’s not a million dollars).

Yes, Interior Design is an investment—but one that pays you back daily in beauty, function, and sanity.

We pride ourselves on transparency. No hidden fees, no surprise charges, no “oops-we-forgot-to-mention” moments. Our design fees are flat rate, based on the approximate hours your project will require. After your initial discovery call, we’ll set up your Consultation to review everything prior to receiving the Interior Design contract.

If the scope of work changes down the line—say you want to add a room or totally rethink a space—that’s no problem. We simply charge additional work at an hourly rate. A nonrefundable deposit (which goes toward your flat rate fee) is required to secure your spot once we sign the contract.

What’s included in your fees?

Transparency is key. Our fees cover the design, drawings, project management, and our expert eye. Materials, furnishings, and contractor costs are separate. We’ll walk you through the details, so you always know what you’re paying for.

At Chloe Elizabeth Interiors, we proudly do all design work in-house. No outsourcing, ever.

Do you handle project management?

In one word: YES.

Chloe’s professional background in commercial project management (think airport bars and restaurants—you’ve probably sipped a cocktail at one of them) has made her a master of logistics and communication.

We don’t just hand you a pretty plan and wish you luck. We create detailed construction drawing sets and make sure every design decision is clearly documented, communicated, and executed. We handle all communication between the contractor and subcontractor(s), all while being your biggest advocate to ensure your satisfaction. Think of Chloe as your stylishly tenacious design advocate—handling the nitty-gritty so you don’t have to.

Why can’t I just use AI to design my space?

AI is great, but it can’t walk through your home, understand how you actually live, or read between the lines of your style indecision and your Pinterest chaos.

Design isn’t just about picking pretty things. It’s about creating flow, function, and feeling—something that requires nuance, intuition, and real-world problem solving.

We interpret the things you don’t say, source one-of-a-kind pieces, and catch the small details that make a big difference (like scale, lighting, or that weird beam you forgot to mention).

So go ahead and use AI for grocery lists and email revisions. But when it comes to your home? You want a trained human.
